Common Barriers

It’s difficult to realize that you can’t control other people’s behavior, only your own. The paradox is that when you change the way you behave, others will then change their behavior towards you too. That is because relationships are systems. Imagine a machine with gears and wheels that are all interrelated. If you change the way one of the gears works, the interaction with the other gears and wheels will have to change too.

It is important to note, that if you try to change the way all the gears and wheels work at once, the machine will probably go haywire. You would need a plan for just exactly how you wanted the machine to change and then make changes according to that plan.

This is where many self-development projects fail. Without a plan for just exactly what relationships you want to work on and how you want to approach them, you would either try to do too much at once, or be paralyzed like a raccoon in headlights and not do anything. We will help you identify the areas that you need to develop and help you be specific in your preparation.

Answer: The core idea here is that:
To influence other people you must start with yourself.
You have no influence over other people.
