There is no doubt that stress reduces your resistance to illness and diminishes your performance. Those conducting research on stress at work have consistently found that sources of stress fall into five major areas:

    1. Physical stressors - include such things as noise levels, lighting and temperature
    2. Nature of your job - includes deadlines and time pressure, confusion over assignments and work load
    3.
    Fellow workers - includes lack of teamwork, poor support and unwritten rules
    4.
    The organization - includes problems with leadership and the hierarchy, red tape and supervisors
    5.
    Your career - includes issues of career advancement and retirement
