In setting daily or weekly goals, after reviewing
your longer-term goals, take these steps:
Make a complete list.
Without priority, simply list all you
would like to do on this day or week. It will probably be too long. If you
keep it on separate pages in your calendar you can always refer back to it.
Circle the items you can do with the time
you have on this day or week. Leave the others unmarked to pick up on future
lists.
Give a value to each item. The most common
way to do this is to use the ABC method. Put an A beside the selected items
that are vital. These are the items that must be done. Put a B next to the
items that are important. These should be done but only after the As have
been completed. Finally assign a C to those items that could be done if time
allows.
Give a numerical value to each item within
the As, Bs and Cs. The item at the top of the list is rated A1, while a C12
may be the lowest.
There are really no good excuses for not
planning. Once you make your planning session the anchor of your day, youll
soon find that you can accomplish more of your goals and youll
probably feel more in control of your days as well!
