The Right Attitude: Letting Go

Letting go means doing what you do each night. You cannot force yourself to go to sleep. If you try to force it, you will certainly stay awake. Only by letting go of your attachment to the events of the day or tomorrow's worries do you find the comfort of sleep. Letting go means releasing the tensions from the body. Letting go means letting intrusive thoughts pass. Do you remember earlier that we asked you not to think of elephants? You found it impossible. But, when you read the next few sentences, you forgot about the elephants. Now it comes up again and your mind is full of elephants. Go on to other things and again you will find it easy to let go of the elephants. Fight it and they will stay with you. Let the moments pass and they will be gone.
