Practice Throughout the Day
 


Learn to use whatever method of relaxing or calming that works best for you. A walk around the block, a coffee break with friendly co-workers, practicing breathing for relaxation, or a few minutes at your desk with your eyes closed imagining a beach scene are all ways that you can take brief “calming breaks” throughout the day. When you practice relaxation throughout the day, the next time you are in a meeting and start to feel your blood pressure go up and the tension rises, you can take a minute to think about how you felt on your walk or quietly practice exhaling and feel the tension start to go away.
